We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to become a vital member of our Program & Construction Management team.
The Senior Project Engineer will play a crucial role in the daily management of K-14 projects, encompassing programming, planning, design, procurement, construction, and asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the pre-construction, bidding, construction, and project close-out phases.
- Review pre-construction documents and provide feedback to designers as needed.
- Prepare and present reports to upper management regarding project status and progress.
- Engage with relevant public agencies during pre-construction and construction phases to ensure compliance with off-site work; collaborate with various District and Project personnel.
- Manage project budgets and schedules to align with the District's quality standards; conduct monthly budget reviews to ensure accurate reflection of project status.
- Supervise daily contractor activities, review construction schedules and submittals, and address contractor inquiries through Requests for Clarifications (RFC) and related documents.
- Evaluate substitution requests from contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and District requirements.
- Assess and negotiate Contractor Change Order Proposals to secure fair pricing in line with General Conditions; address schedule impacts promptly as per project specifications.
- Monitor payment processes for contractors, architects, engineers, and other involved parties.
- Administer Professional Service Agreements between architects and the District.
- Coordinate the delivery of related fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
- Oversee project close-out processes concerning project certification with the Division of State Architects (DSA) and financial closure.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant full-time professional experience in Construction or a combination of Project and Construction Management, specifically in Commercial or Public/Educational Facility Construction. At least three years of the last ten should involve full responsibility for managing complex projects with construction values exceeding $10M.
- A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in design-build projects, particularly within public or educational facility construction.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Experience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS).
- Knowledge of Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.
- Understanding of Safety and OSHA Safety Regulations (minimum OSHA 30).
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with construction values exceeding $10M.
