Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated overnight Victim Advocate to join our organization.

In this role, you will deliver direct assistance to victims of domestic and/or sexual violence and other crimes, primarily operating from the designated shelter.


Key Responsibilities:


Provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, advocacy, and solution-focused decision-making to individuals and families affected by victimization through the crisis hotline and/or assigned locations.

Collaborate with a variety of service providers and community organizations to engage clients and facilitate access to necessary services.

Serve as the primary responder for the evening and weekend on-call crisis hotline; offer crisis intervention, supportive counseling, advocacy, and solution-focused decision-making to individuals and families facing victimization; effectively manage crisis situations.

Work alongside the management team to support Advocacy staff in program functions.
Assist with documentation of services provided.
Inform clients about available community services tailored to their specific needs. Aid in referrals and provide advocacy and assistance with application processes for various individual needs, including compensation claims and community services.
Adhere to strict safety protocols while advocating for victims, ensuring the confidentiality of staff.

Develop and maintain assessments and individualized service plans, coordinating activities to help clients meet their needs and protect their rights in various civil and legal contexts.

Teach and coach essential life skills such as safety planning, navigating civil/legal systems, and fostering healthy relationships.

Arrange transportation for clients to connect with courts, law enforcement, medical providers, and other community resources.

Case-manage on behalf of clients in collaboration with colleagues, supervisors, and community partners, including law enforcement and legal representatives as necessary.

Plan safety measures for victims of domestic violence and crime while ensuring staff safety in diverse environments, including client homes and during court accompaniments.

Maintain comprehensive records for individual client services and documentation required for program outcomes, agency data management, and grant reporting.

Oversee specific program functions as assigned.

Qualifications:


A passion for working with individuals and families, along with a solid understanding of the family development process and the OCO Service Delivery system.

Completion and maintenance of all regulatory training/education for relevant certifications is required.
Ability to work independently, demonstrating self-motivation, resourcefulness, organization, and adaptability in job duties.
Familiarity with the geographical layout of the county and knowledge of civil/legal systems and human service resources is essential.
Strong oral and written communication skills, with excellent documentation and reporting capabilities.

Proficiency in complex data entry and the ability to interpret and manipulate intricate information.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a warm, non-judgmental manner, serving as a positive role model.
Ability to direct the work of others, prioritize tasks, and solve problems effectively.
Exhibit professionalism, sound judgment, and maintain strict confidentiality regarding client information.
Possess detailed knowledge of regulations, services, rights, and responsibilities relevant to the served population.
Ability to work with special needs populations, including those exhibiting aggressive behaviors.

Flexibility in work schedule is necessary to meet program needs; participation in 24-hour on-call emergency services on a rotating basis is required.

Good health is essential to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and access to a properly insured, reliable vehicle for regular travel and client transportation is mandatory.


Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in a Human Services field preferred; and
1-3 years of experience in Human Services/Victim Assistance programming with diverse age groups and populations; or
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Full-Time Position: 36 hours per week / 52 weeks per year

Grade 9 (base rate $17.34 per hour + an additional $2/hour for hours worked between 11pm-6am)
