POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is dedicated to delivering essential services to individuals affected by domestic and/or sexual violence and other criminal acts within designated programming. The position operates in various environments, including organizational offices, partner agency locations, community sites, and clients' residences. The specialist will assist the management team to ensure efficient service delivery and operational continuity. This position requires independent intervention and case management for a designated client group, along with oversight of specific project functions as assigned. All responsibilities must align with organizational policies and funding requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and advocacy to individuals and families facing victimization through the crisis hotline and designated sites.
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of service providers and community organizations to engage clients and facilitate access to necessary services.
  • Serve as the primary responder for the evening and weekend on-call crisis hotline, managing crisis situations effectively.
  • Support Advocacy staff by collaborating with the management team on program functions.
  • Assist in documenting services provided to clients.
  • Inform clients about available community services tailored to their needs, aiding in referrals and advocacy for applications related to various individual requirements.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols while representing victims, ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
  • Develop and maintain client assessments and individualized service plans, coordinating activities to meet client needs and uphold their rights.
  • Provide training and guidance on life skills, including safety planning and navigating civil/legal systems.
  • Arrange transportation for clients to connect with courts, law enforcement, medical providers, and other community resources.
  • Manage cases collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and community partners, including law enforcement and legal representatives.
  • Plan safety measures for victims while ensuring staff safety in various settings.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of client services and documentation for program outcomes and reporting.
  • Oversee specific program functions as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A genuine interest in supporting individuals and families, with a solid understanding of family development and service delivery systems.
  • Completion and maintenance of all required training for relevant certifications.
  • Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating resourcefulness, organization, and adaptability.
  • Familiarity with the local geographical area and knowledge of civil/legal systems and human service resources.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with excellent documentation capabilities.
  • Proficiency in complex data entry and the ability to interpret and manipulate detailed information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with others and serve as a positive role model.
  • Capability to lead others, prioritize tasks, and solve problems effectively.
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and strict confidentiality regarding client information are essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations, services, rights, and responsibilities for the populations served.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including those exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to meet program needs, including participation in on-call emergency services.
  • Good health to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle for travel and client transport.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's Degree in a Human Services field is preferred; and
  • 1-3 years of experience in Human Services or Victim Assistance programs with diverse age groups; or
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Full-Time Position: 36 hours per week / 52 weeks per year

Grade Level: 9
