Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves working at designated locations, whether within organizational facilities or in community settings, to assist children and families residing in Oswego County who are required to engage in supervised visitation or have voluntarily opted for such arrangements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver services independently across diverse environments, catering to individuals of various ages based on family dynamics.
  • Establish a trusting rapport with children and family members, actively involving them in the service process.
  • Ensure that services are centered around the child's needs and prioritize their safety.
  • Continuously evaluate the risk of re-offending and take necessary actions to safeguard the child, including terminating visits if a parent's behavior is inappropriate.
  • Collaborate with contractors to formulate visitation strategies.
  • Review and modify visitation plans while consulting with relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate program services as assigned.
  • Conduct eligibility assessments for the program and assist families in creating and implementing visitation safety protocols.
  • Work in partnership to arrange visitation sessions in accordance with court directives, ensuring that all necessary resources are available.
  • Lead debriefing discussions post-visit with children of suitable age or developmental stage.
  • Oversee visits to maintain established boundaries as per the visitation plan, providing guidance and support to parents during these interactions.
  • Document comprehensive observations regarding all child-parent engagements.
  • Provide testimony in court when required by subpoena.
  • Report any infractions or concerns regarding consumer behavior to supervisors.
  • Evaluate visiting parents' compliance and progress to identify necessary skill development for community visits.
  • Conduct safety assessments prior to scheduling visits outside of controlled environments.
  • Complete all required documentation in line with organizational policies and federal/state regulations, ensuring the confidentiality and accuracy of consumer records.
  • Input data into designated program databases and prepare statistical reports for timely program evaluation.
  • Transport clients to and from their supervised visits.
  • Regularly clean and sanitize visitation areas and equipment.
  • Identify client needs and facilitate connections to community resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exhibit professionalism, sound judgment, and adaptability while managing stressful situations with composure.
  • Complete a 40-hour training program and any additional training as required.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in engaging with a diverse population, including individuals facing domestic violence, sexual assault, homelessness, poverty, unemployment, and other special needs.
  • Possess knowledge of child development, trauma, visitation risk factors, and strategies to disrupt harmful patterns.
  • Ability to build and maintain respectful, empowering, and non-judgmental relationships with victims, offenders, community organizations, volunteers, interns, and colleagues.
  • Capable of multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Commitment to fostering collaboration and teamwork through positive communication.
  • Knowledge of public and community services and resources.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Aptitude for comprehending complex information and performing technical writing.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating motivation, resourcefulness, and organization to achieve goals promptly.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours to fulfill program objectives and client needs.
  • Successfully complete all mandatory training.
  • Possess a valid NYS Driver's License with a driving record that complies with agency policy and have access to a reliable vehicle; maintain Agency Driver Certification.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience working with children.
  • 2 years of college education in Behavioral Sciences or a related field.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Full-time position, 52 weeks per year

Work Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Grade Level: 9
