Department Overview:

The N114 Resilient Warfighter Space Services Department is dedicated to providing robust space-based capabilities that support effective joint warfighting across multiple domains. We achieve success through our operational insights, technical proficiency, and a comprehensive understanding of the technology landscape. Our team engages in pioneering technical research and prototype development, delivering data-driven insights to senior government officials to enhance space-based capabilities. Our diverse portfolio emphasizes resilient Satellite Communications (SatCom) and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), contributing to the Space Warfighting Division's mission.

Position Summary:

N114 is looking for a Project Leader (PL) to guide the PNT Program Office (PNT PO) work initiatives. This pivotal role requires the candidate to serve as the primary MITRE liaison to Air Force leadership, managing a work package that encompasses Embedded GPS Inertial-Modernized (EGI-M), Resilient-EGI (R-EGI), and Software Defined User Equipment (SDUE). The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of technical skills, including platform systems engineering, modeling & simulation, prototyping, and satellite navigation (SatNav).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sponsor Engagement: Regularly connect with senior sponsors to understand their mission challenges deeply. Provide strategic and technical guidance as a trusted advisor, enhancing MITRE's role in shaping programs to meet operational objectives.
  • Project Leadership: Define project outcomes in alignment with NSEC Space Warfighting goals, addressing current and future challenges faced by sponsors.
  • Janus Leadership Role: Oversee technical performance, staffing, and funding execution for resources provided by multiple government stakeholders.
  • Project Administration: Utilize various tools to achieve project goals and ensure timely delivery.
  • Product Quality Control: Conduct reviews to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
  • Collaboration: Foster a team environment that builds a strong network of connections and leverages MITRE's technical expertise.
  • Staff Leadership: Collaborate with resource managers to develop the team and enhance staff capabilities.
  • Culture Development: Promote a positive culture aligned with MITRE's values, emphasizing diversity and inclusion.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Active DoD Top Secret Clearance (TS) with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Proven technical expertise in systems engineering across mission areas such as satellite communications and navigation.
  • Experience in acquisition programs related to aviation platform integration and PNT user equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to foster collaboration across various organizational units.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities with minimal supervision.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Aerospace, or a related STEM field, with relevant experience.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams with diverse skills.
  • Ability to influence and drive technical impact within a team.
  • Experience managing interagency reimbursement agreements.

Salary Range: $167,500 - $209,500 - $251,500 Annual
