Position Title: Chief Executive Officer

About United Way:

United Way of Coastal Carolina is dedicated to fostering a brighter future for our community members facing challenges. Role Overview:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will report directly to the Board of Directors and will embody a mission-oriented, collaborative, and innovative leadership style. The CEO will oversee the complete operations of United Way of Coastal Carolina (UWCC) in alignment with the annual budget set by the Board. As the organization's primary representative, the CEO will engage with a diverse group of stakeholders, including donors, service recipients, community organizations, educational institutions, and corporate partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of United Way, fostering relationships with donors and nonprofit collaborators.
  2. Align organizational resources strategically to enhance community impact, resource development, and staff engagement.
  3. Provide visionary leadership in partnership with the Board of Directors to set long-term objectives and strategies.
  4. Collaborate with the Board to define goals, allocate resources effectively, and navigate challenges to achieve desired outcomes.
  5. Oversee fundraising initiatives, including identifying resource needs, developing innovative strategies, and maintaining comprehensive fundraising records.
  6. Strengthen relationships with existing workplace campaigns while identifying and engaging potential donors and corporate partners.
  7. Ensure operational and fiscal integrity in accordance with Board policies and maintain transparency with Board members regarding governance matters.
  8. Act as the chief representative of the organization to all stakeholders, enhancing the mission and public image of United Way.
  9. Implement a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy to broaden support and understanding of United Way's initiatives.
  10. Advocate for health and human service nonprofits by educating corporate and government representatives about community needs.
  11. Ensure compliance with legal obligations and membership requirements of United Way Worldwide.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in relationship-building and donor engagement with a track record of successful resource generation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, financial management, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities, including the ability to inspire and develop volunteers and staff.
  • Exceptional communication skills, integrity, and the ability to foster consensus among diverse groups.
  • A passion for making a positive impact in the community and the capacity to lead with decisiveness, compassion, and humility.
  • Proficiency in facilitating meetings and managing group dynamics.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Adept at thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

A bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with a minimum of five years of experience in a nonprofit organization or relevant corporate/public sector roles, including significant volunteer leadership experience.

Additional Information:

This position may require occasional additional administrative or programmatic tasks due to the small size of the United Way team. Candidates should possess skills in strategic thinking, leadership, problem-solving, customer service, negotiation, and public speaking.
