AB Staffing is seeking a qualified Educational Guidance Counselor for the upcoming academic year. Essential Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Department of Education license in School Counseling OR Virginia Department of Health license for LPC.
- Prior experience working with preschool and school-aged children in a counseling or educational guidance capacity is preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Physical requirements include the ability to stand or sit for extended periods, read and interpret written materials, hear and understand speech, and follow both oral and written instructions. The role may involve frequent walking, standing, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Engage in a contract for the academic year, adhering to the district's calendar with a commitment of 37.5 to 40 hours weekly.
- Assist in identifying and addressing students' educational challenges while fostering their unique talents.
- Facilitate the onboarding of new students, guiding them through school protocols and available learning opportunities.
- Support students individually in resolving personal issues related to family dynamics, peer relationships, health, and emotional well-being.
- Conduct small group sessions on topics such as study techniques, social skills, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and coping with change.
- Provide career guidance by sharing occupational information and assisting students in evaluating their career interests.
- Offer crisis intervention and counseling as needed, including referrals to community resources.
- Deliver training sessions on counseling topics for school staff and collaborate with faculty on student behavioral issues.
- Actively communicate the school's objectives to students, parents, and the broader community, engaging with parents as necessary.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Hourly rate between $50 and $55.
- Estimated weekly earnings based on a 40-hour workweek: $2,000 to $2,200.
