Position Overview:

We are on the lookout for a driven Junior Cost Estimator to become a vital member of our dynamic construction team. This role is crucial for our operational success, as you will be tasked with preparing, coordinating, and managing cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. Your contributions will be key in acquiring new business and ensuring timely and budget-compliant project completions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluating blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services.
  • Generating and submitting budget estimates and cost tracking reports.
  • Collaborating with the project management team to gain a thorough understanding of project strategies and commitments, including financial objectives, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
  • Assisting in proposal preparation and client presentations.
  • Working closely with engineers, architects, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to develop project cost estimates.
  • Reviewing design alternatives and recommending optimal solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.
  • Monitoring and documenting all project expenses to ensure adherence to cost estimates.
  • Identifying potential cost uncertainties to ensure comprehensive costing models.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction Science, or a related discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience in commercial or residential construction or relevant internship experience.
  • Familiarity with On-Screen Takeoff software for estimations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction estimation software.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while organizing and prioritizing tasks.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a keen ability to identify discrepancies.
  • Solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal requirements.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment, including negotiation skills with suppliers and subcontractors.
