The Buyer/Planner is integral to our operational success, managing procurement functions and ensuring the precision, integrity, and efficiency of our purchasing systems. This role reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager and demands meticulous attention to detail, a strong ethical foundation, and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate will oversee purchase orders, requisitions, scheduling, and work orders while championing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Purchasing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute purchasing strategies that align with the company's objectives.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to evaluate purchasing requirements.
  • Identify and assess suppliers based on criteria such as quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier evaluations to ensure transparency.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail in monitoring inventory levels and accurately predicting demand to avoid shortages.
  • Address purchasing-related issues promptly, utilizing effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes impacting procurement activities.
  • Build and nurture relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to foster collaboration.
  • Lead process enhancements to streamline procurement workflows and boost efficiency.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in purchasing or supply chain management, particularly in sourcing and supplier relations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to navigate complex situations and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, alongside Microsoft Office applications; experience with Sage is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building productive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Focus on internal customer satisfaction and a commitment to operational excellence.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is advantageous.
