Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Category Procurement Manager will oversee procurement operations for sourced components and materials, playing a vital role within the Project Cross-Functional Team. This individual will effectively manage and communicate timelines for all procurement activities to ensure alignment with project milestones and deliverables. The role will serve as the functional lead, facilitating a development process in close collaboration with program management, engineering, quality assurance, business development, and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Purchasing representative within the cross-functional team from program inception to conclusion.
  • Lead procurement efforts for significant categories such as Thermal, Mechanical, Electronics, or Adhesion.
  • Leverage market analysis and industry insights to identify trends within the category and formulate strategies that align with future market developments.
  • Assist business segments and cross-functional teams in business pursuits for all sourced components and contribute to cost estimation during pre-quotations.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to select sources and initiate procurement of components to meet or exceed program cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing lead times and enhancing cost efficiency.
  • Develop recovery strategies for components that experience delivery delays.
  • Communicate supplier-related risks associated with program launches to the cross-functional team.
  • Maintain necessary Purchasing reports for management review.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding the status of category components supporting all programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations related to health, safety, and environmental standards, alongside the company's sustainability initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement principles.
  • Responsible for setting category budgets and engaging in activities that promote profitability enhancements.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Comply with federal and state regulations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Exhibit predictable and reliable attendance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in procurement within the automotive sector.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in procuring components for battery management systems or similar products in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with battery modules is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems (Plex is a plus).
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
