Role Overview:
As a Senior Manager within Visa's Payment Acceptance technology division, focusing on Security & Identity and Cloud enablement, you will be instrumental in empowering our most valuable asset, our engineers, to deliver exceptional features with the utmost quality.
You will grasp the business objectives linked to these pivotal projects and provide technological leadership as the technical authority on strategic initiatives. You will steer the release strategy and oversee the execution of projects that align with business goals in innovative payment acceptance and integrated commerce management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist clients in realizing their true objectives by comprehending their requirements and how these can benefit their operations.
2. Define needs, develop strategic plans, coordinate resources, and implement actionable plans.
3. Manage a team of 10 engineers, both directly and indirectly, while handling multiple projects concurrently and resolving scheduling conflicts to meet all deadlines.
4. Engage with various development methodologies, including Agile, with a profound understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.
5. Mentor engineers in both technical and career growth.
6. Foster a collaborative team environment and formulate strategies for your teams to architect, design, and deliver the next generation of enterprise FinTech innovations.
Work Environment:
This is a hybrid role, where employees alternate between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid positions are expected to work from the office 2-3 days a week, as determined by leadership, with a general expectation of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications:
Basic:
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 5+ years with an Advanced Degree, or 2+ years with a PhD.
Preferred:
- 9+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 7+ years with an Advanced Degree, or 3+ years with a PhD in Computer Science/Engineering, Science, or Math.
- 3+ years in a leadership or management capacity.
- Experience in consumer-facing application development.
- Proficiency in commercial software development within Unix/Linux environments.
- Familiarity with container development and deployment.
- Understanding of security requirements, standards, and contemporary security risks and technologies.
- Experience in the security domain, including authentication, authorization, and secure gateway construction.
- Background in developing and deploying services in multi-cloud environments like GCP, Azure, and AWS.
- Proficiency in Java/J2EE technologies, container, and database technologies.
- Knowledge of the architecture and operations of highly available and scalable transactional systems.
- Experience with cloud migration and multi-cloud strategies.
- Familiarity with agile development processes.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams for optimal results.
Additional Information:
Work Hours: Varies based on departmental needs.
Travel Requirements: This position may require travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This role will be performed in an office setting, requiring the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment.
