The Senior Commissioning Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing the commissioning processes for various systems within a data center environment. This position encompasses the commissioning of essential infrastructure including security, life safety, electrical, mechanical, and building management systems. The engineer will be responsible for documenting and monitoring commissioning activities across multiple levels of complexity.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with the development team and external contractors to ensure compliance with operational standards during construction and installation.
  • Formulating detailed commissioning strategies for systems at multiple levels, ensuring thorough testing and validation of all components.
  • Conducting comprehensive commissioning tests to confirm that all systems meet industry standards and client requirements.
  • Identifying and resolving issues that arise during the commissioning phase, working closely with project teams to overcome technical challenges.
  • Preparing and reviewing commissioning documentation, including test protocols and reports, to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Observing equipment testing during commissioning and validating operational sequences and documentation.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to facilitate the integration of systems without disrupting ongoing operations.
  • Implementing quality assurance measures to uphold high standards throughout the commissioning process, adhering to regulatory and industry best practices.
  • Developing site-specific standard operating procedures and emergency response protocols in conjunction with facilities operations.
  • Providing training to users and maintenance staff on the operation and upkeep of commissioned systems.
  • Utilizing the Change Management Process for maintenance approvals and documentation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Construction Management, Project Management, or Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in data center engineering, commissioning, or project management.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance systems, including CCTV, access control, telecommunications, and fire safety systems.
  • Willingness to travel to various data center locations as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • US Citizenship is required for this position due to federal contract obligations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems relevant to data centers.
  • Familiarity with electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience with backup power systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical cooling solutions.
  • Understanding of equipment operation and maintenance protocols.

  • Ability to analyze system operations and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Capacity to learn and apply job-related knowledge within established guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and web-based tools.
