Job Overview

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals in your community? Lutheran Services in Iowa is seeking a dedicated Resettlement Caseworker to facilitate the integration of refugee populations through our comprehensive Immigrant and Refugee Community Services.

Key Responsibilities

As a Caseworker, you will play a crucial role in guiding newly arrived refugee clients through the resettlement journey. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting clients in accessing essential services, including pre-arrival coordination of housing, airport arrivals, employment opportunities, school enrollment, and other vital resources.
  • Transporting and accompanying clients to various appointments.
  • Coordinating service activities with volunteers and community organizations to ensure timely delivery of all necessary services.
  • Conducting assessments, setting goals, and developing self-sufficiency plans using a client-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of services and completing comprehensive case files.

Service activities may occur during regular business hours, evenings, or weekends based on client needs and arrival times. Mileage reimbursement is provided.


Qualifications

Required: A Bachelor's degree in health and human services, along with a minimum of one year of full-time, relevant experience in health and human services. Equivalent education and experience will also be considered, such as an Associate's degree with three years of experience or a high school diploma/GED with five years of related experience.

Relevant experience includes work in human services, family services, mental health services, public health, nursing, community resource navigation, behavioral health services, and experience with immigrant and refugee populations.
