Sous Chef Job Description

Job Summary:

LodgeWorks is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sous Chef to join our Food and Beverage team at Archer Hotel New York. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Food and Beverage Director/Kitchen Manager in leading a team to prepare, season, and cook menu and non-menu orders according to LodgeWorks specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Food and Beverage Director/Kitchen Manager in leading a team to prepare, season, and cook menu and non-menu orders according to LodgeWorks specifications.
  • Help the Kitchen Manager lead a team to clean and sanitize all work areas, including kitchens, food preparation, dish washing, storage, service, and other areas as directed.
  • Assist with ordering supplies and maintaining records and accounts.
  • Follow safe food handling and service practices and work closely with the sales staff to service guests, banquets, meeting rooms, events, catering, restaurants, and bars.
  • May be responsible for inventory, scheduling, ordering supplies/food, and labor/food cost controls.
  • Comply with any licensing or regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Two years + previous hotel (or like) kitchen supervisory experience preferred.
  • Line cook/chef specializing in upscale banquets and restaurants.
  • High school degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Food handling certificate in state or counties where required.

Working Conditions:

Must have open availability, which may include working weekends and holidays.
