As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in preserving Delaware's historical sites and collections, supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, serving consumers, public employees, and veterans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce institutional policies relative to safety, security, and orderliness, ensuring a secure environment for all stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular rounds of institutional facilities, buildings, and grounds to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Prepare and maintain incident reports, shift activities logs, and other required documentation to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Assist in detaining trespassers, violators, and potential escapees until proper authorities arrive, ensuring public safety and security.
  • Support searches for missing patients, providing critical assistance in emergency situations.
  • Provide general information to institutional visitors, offering directions and support as needed.
  • May be required to provide transportation for patients to outside facilities and institutions, ensuring safe and efficient transportation.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers on a monthly basis, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • May locate and confiscate contraband, notifying appropriate authorities and maintaining a secure environment.

Requirements

  • At least six months of experience in security, providing protective services to persons, facilities, or grounds from trespassing, theft, and other conditions.
  • Knowledge of narrative report writing, with the ability to effectively communicate incidents and events.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License, with no suspensions, revocations, or cancellations.
