SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner in Behavioral Health Services is tasked with conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and providing psychopharmacological treatment to individuals in need of mental health support. This role encompasses various responsibilities, including the meticulous completion of documentation in accordance with Health Center protocols. The NP is expected to meet established productivity and direct care benchmarks while actively engaging in supervision.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess the physiological, neurological, and psychopharmacological conditions of clients within the program.
  • Prescribe and oversee the administration of psychotropic medications.
  • Contribute to the formulation of diagnostic assessments and treatment strategies, participating in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Deliver direct therapeutic counseling as necessary.
  • Engage in utilization reviews, peer evaluations, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Facilitate collaboration with community organizations and healthcare facilities to enhance patient care and services.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to other healthcare professionals as assigned.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow Behavioral Health Services clinicians and primary care providers to ensure an integrated approach to patient care.
  • Offer in-service training to staff upon request.
  • Adhere to productivity and direct care expectations, adjusted according to full-time equivalent status.
  • Participate in supervision activities.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough understanding of clinical and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with integrated medical, clinical, and support personnel on behalf of clients.
  • Solid grasp of medical and clinical practices and procedures.
  • Awareness of the agency's role within the community and the capacity to represent it appropriately.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage time and responsibilities effectively.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to ethical practices aligned with established professional standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist with a minimum of three years of experience.
  • Certification by the ANCC as an Adult and/or Adolescent/Child Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Possession of a current, valid, and unrestricted DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registrations.
