SUMMARY:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Lowell Community Health Center is tasked with conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and providing psychopharmacological treatment to clients within the Behavioral Health framework. This role encompasses various responsibilities, including maintaining meticulous documentation in accordance with Health Center protocols and achieving established productivity and direct care benchmarks.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of clients' physiological, neurological, and psychopharmacological conditions.
  • Prescribe and oversee the administration of psychotropic medications.
  • Engage in the formulation of diagnostic assessments and treatment strategies, actively participating in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Deliver direct therapeutic counseling when necessary.
  • Contribute to utilization reviews, peer evaluations, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Facilitate collaboration with community organizations and hospitals to enhance patient care and services.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow Behavioral Health Services clinicians and primary care providers to ensure an integrated approach to patient care.
  • Offer in-service training to staff upon request.
  • Meet productivity and direct care expectations, adjusted according to full-time equivalent status.
  • Participate in supervisory activities.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • In-depth understanding of clinical and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with integrated medical, clinical, and support personnel on behalf of clients.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical and clinical practices and procedures.
  • Awareness of the agency's role within the community and the capacity to represent it appropriately.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage time and responsibilities effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Commitment to ethical practices in alignment with established professional standards.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Certification from ANCC as an Adult and/or Adolescent/Child Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Possession of a current, valid, and unrestricted DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registrations.
