SUMMARY:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Lowell Community Health Center is tasked with conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and providing psychopharmacological treatment to individuals within the Behavioral Health program. This role encompasses various responsibilities, including the completion of all necessary documentation in accordance with Health Center standards, meeting productivity and direct care expectations, and engaging in supervision activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of clients' physiological, neurological, and psychopharmacological conditions.
- Prescribe and oversee the administration of psychotropic medications.
- Contribute to the formulation of diagnostic assessments and treatment strategies, actively participating in weekly multidisciplinary treatment team discussions.
- Provide direct therapeutic counseling when appropriate.
- Engage in utilization reviews, peer reviews, and quality management initiatives.
- Foster collaborative relationships with community organizations and hospitals to enhance patient care and services.
- Offer supervision and consultation to other healthcare professionals as required.
- Collaborate closely with fellow Behavioral Health Services clinicians and primary care providers to ensure an integrated approach to patient care.
- Deliver in-service training to staff upon request.
- Meet established productivity and direct care expectations, adjusted according to full-time equivalent status.
- Participate in supervision activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- In-depth understanding of clinical and administrative policies and procedures.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with integrated medical, clinical, and support teams on behalf of clients.
- Thorough knowledge of medical and clinical practices and procedures.
- Awareness of the agency's role within the community and the capacity to represent the agency appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills to manage time and responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to ethical practices in alignment with established professional standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Certification from ANCC as an Adult and/or Adolescent/Child Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- Possession of a current, valid, and unrestricted DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registrations.
