About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Access Center Coordinator to join our team at Idaho Falls Community Hospital LLC. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient access and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate referrals and admissions, utilizing established criteria to evaluate appropriateness of admission.
  • Work with referring physicians, nursing supervisors, and managers to assign new intakes to floors, units, and beds.
  • Direct incoming calls to hospitalists, ED physicians, or intensivists as necessary.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by facilitating discussions with current in-house personnel.
  • Verify EMTALA compliance with referrals and transfers.
  • Record and document incoming calls in the call log.
  • Coordinate patient transfers, both emergent and nonemergent, and communicate with EMS or transport personnel.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer discussions for patient transfers.
  • Assign EMR patient beds within the hospital, working with unit managers and nursing supervisors.

Requirements
  • Current, unencumbered Idaho license in your medical field.
  • BLS certification required.
  • 3-5 years of experience as an Access Center Coordinator, nursing, or other acute care medical experience.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and EMR (Cerner) systems.
