We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer - Stormwater Management to bolster our expanding team in our Dulles and Baltimore offices. This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring onsite presence up to three days a week.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Civil Engineer - Stormwater Management will be tasked with the planning, permitting, and design of land development projects, with a concentrated focus on stormwater management.

Specific duties include:

  • Collaborating with project teams on all facets of Stormwater Management and land development initiatives, including project initiation, drafting, design, quality assurance, and overall project coordination.
  • Preparing and revising construction documents, reports, specifications, and other essential design deliverables.
  • Conducting analyses of maps, reports, drawings, as-built conditions, and test results pertinent to design projects.
  • Providing post-design construction support services, addressing RFIs, reviewing submittals, preparing as-builts, and conducting field observations.
  • Establishing budgets and labor forecasts for design tasks.
  • Collaborating with office staff and management to ensure successful project completion within established budgets and timelines.
  • Preparing engineering calculations necessary for project design and coordinating the development of construction drawings.
  • Organizing and delivering project plans and specifications.
  • Performing quality assurance and reviews of design plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Consulting with other engineers, architects, landscape architects, environmental scientists, project consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinating with Stormwater Management permitting authorities.
  • Designing and permitting civil construction projects, with an emphasis on stormwater management and erosion and sediment control.
  • Mentoring and coordinating junior engineers and engineering technicians.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Senior Civil Engineer - Stormwater Management position will possess:

  • A minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in the Civil Engineering sector.
  • A Professional Engineer license in Virginia, Maryland, and/or Washington, DC, or the ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Familiarity and experience with regional Stormwater Management Authorities, particularly MDE, VDEQ, and DDOE.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software such as MicroStation/InRoads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • A solid understanding of Civil Engineering principles and techniques, especially concerning construction materials, methods, and procedures.
  • A self-motivated and adaptable individual capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
