We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer - Stormwater to enhance our expanding team in our Dulles and Baltimore offices. This role is hybrid, requiring up to three days per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Civil Engineer - Stormwater will take charge of planning, permitting, and designing land development projects, with a strong focus on stormwater management. The responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the project team on all facets of Stormwater Management and land development projects, including project initiation, drafting, design, quality assurance, and overall project coordination.
  • Preparing and modifying construction documents, reports, specifications, and other design deliverables.
  • Conducting analyses of maps, reports, drawings, as-builts, and test results relevant to design projects.
  • Providing post-design construction support services, addressing RFIs, reviewing submittals, preparing as-builts, and conducting field observations.
  • Establishing budgets and labor projections for design tasks.
  • Working closely with office staff and management to ensure successful project completion within established budgets and timelines.
  • Preparing engineering calculations necessary for project design and coordinating the development of construction drawings.
  • Organizing and delivering project plans and specifications.
  • Conducting quality assurance and reviews of design plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Consulting with other engineers, architects, landscape architects, environmental scientists, project consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinating with Stormwater Management permitting agencies.
  • Designing and permitting civil construction projects, with an emphasis on stormwater management and erosion and sediment control.
  • Mentoring and coordinating junior engineers and engineering technicians.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Senior Civil Engineer - Stormwater position will possess:

  • A minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in the Civil Engineering field.
  • A Professional Engineer license in Virginia, Maryland, and/or Washington, DC, or the ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Familiarity and experience with regional Stormwater Management Authorities, particularly MDE, VDEQ, and DDOE.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software, including MicroStation/InRoads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • A solid understanding of Civil Engineering principles and techniques, particularly regarding construction materials, methods, and procedures.
  • Self-motivation and adaptability, with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with others.
