Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Ops and Sustainment Engineer or Senior Principal Systems Ops and Sustainment Engineering Lead to join our team at Northrop Grumman's Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) in Dulles, VA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide standard business hours support to regular operations tempo, including mission daily meetings, pre/post mission briefings, and assisting with bus maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and trend Bus state-of-health.
  • Act as the NG Bus representative for on-call support of on-orbit issues or anomaly resolution.
  • Maintain and improve bus-related operational procedures and scripts.
  • Assist with the execution of future mission rehearsals and system software updates.
Requirements
  • Principal Systems Engineer (T3): Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field with at least 5 years of applicable experience, or Master's degree with 3 years of applicable experience.
  • Senior Principal Systems Engineer (T4): Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field with at least 9 years of applicable experience, or Master's degree with 7 years of applicable experience.
  • Must have US Citizenship with current or active Top Secret/SCI Clearance at time of application.
  • Knowledge and experience in satellite engineering disciplines, including attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, command and data handling, and flight and ground software.
  • Familiarity with the anomaly resolution process.
  • Experience with developing and presenting briefing slides to senior leaders and executive level personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in GeoStar-1 space vehicle design.
  • Experience with satellite ground software.
  • Ability to lead an engineering team through the anomaly resolution process.
  • Strong technical background in orbital mechanics/astrodynamics.
  • Prior aerospace-related work experience for a U.S Government Agency or Contractor.

Northrop Grumman offers a competitive salary range of $107,300 - $160,900, with the potential for a discretionary bonus.
