Job Overview

Industrial Electrical Services, Inc. (IES), a well-established contractor in the industrial and commercial electrical sector, is seeking a skilled Senior Estimator. This role presents an opportunity for professional growth within a dynamic organization.

Position Summary: IES specializes in Design/Build electrical contracting, focusing on Municipal Water and Wastewater Projects, as well as Manufacturing and Industrial facilities. Our services include a 24/7 Service department, Water/Wastewater Utility department, and Construction department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify new project opportunities through platforms such as Civcast and Amtek, primarily in Municipal Water and Wastewater sectors, along with some light industrial projects.
  • Manage projects ranging from $3,000 to $3 million, typically within a 50-mile radius of Houston.
  • Obtain and review bid documents, conduct thorough contract analyses, and perform accurate take-offs.
  • Compile material and labor cost estimates, develop contingency plans, and establish mark-ups in collaboration with management.
  • Oversee bid submissions and negotiations, ensuring a smooth project handoff.
  • Review completed projects for insights and adjustments.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a minimum of 5 years of estimating experience, preferably in wastewater/dump station, heavy commercial, and light industrial sectors. Key qualifications include:

  • Strong understanding of cost analysis and labor market risk ratios to determine appropriate project mark-ups.
  • Ability to interpret bid documents effectively to assess project viability.
  • Proficiency in estimating software, with Accubid experience preferred.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Applications.
  • Proven ability to maintain positive relationships with local General Contractors.
  • Previous management experience is advantageous.
  • Field experience is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of material vendors and subcontractors is essential.
  • A valid TDLR Journeyman's electrician's license is a plus; a Master's License will be considered for additional salary.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the President of the company.
