Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Geotechnical Dam Safety Engineer to join our East Region Dams Practice located in our Germantown, Maryland office. This position will support a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to dam project managers, including design, analysis, inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of dams.
  • Plan, implement, and oversee geotechnical subsurface exploration programs, including assigning laboratory testing with assistance.
  • Perform dam analysis and design, such as material characterization, seepage, slope stability, settlement, and filter compatibility analyses for dams.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, boring logs, drawings, and specifications for dam projects.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations to internal project teams.
  • Conduct field observations and site visits for dam safety inspections and dam construction oversight.
  • Progress toward greater responsibility, including task and project management and certification as a professional engineer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Geotechnical, with 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • Proven coursework and/or background in geotechnical engineering.
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
