Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Dam Safety Engineer to become a part of our East Region Dams Team. This role will involve supporting various Dam Safety Engineering projects throughout the East Region. The ideal candidate will join our firm, consistently recognized as the top choice in Dams and Reservoirs, and will have access to exciting career progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise for projects encompassing design, analysis, inspection, construction oversight, and compliance with regulations related to diverse hydraulic structures.
  • Conduct quality reviews of deliverables produced by other engineers, including design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on a range of Dam Safety Engineering projects.
  • Ensure quality control throughout project execution.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Develop engineering proposals for prospective projects.
  • Exhibit flexibility and willingness to travel for project-related work as necessary.
  • Assist in project management roles, including maintaining client relationships, contracting, project planning and execution, financial oversight, technical management, change management, and team leadership.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Relevant experience with dams and hydraulic structures, including rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical engineering software such as GeoStudio and gINT.
  • A valid U.S. Driver's License and the ability to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites, both local and remote.
  • A strong desire to learn and a professional drive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective time-management skills.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state, with the capability to apply for reciprocity in additional states.
