Position Overview:

The Centralized Referrals Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily scheduling operations for both inpatient and outpatient services. This role involves acquiring necessary referrals and pre-certifications to ensure seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the scheduling of inpatient and outpatient tests, procedures, and appointments as instructed by healthcare providers, ensuring detailed documentation in the medical records.
  • Complete all necessary forms for referrals and pre-certifications with accuracy.
  • Maintain knowledge of the requirements and guidelines set forth by various insurance plans, hospitals, and outpatient facilities.
  • Keep precise logs of testing, referrals, and appointments, including follow-up verification in the referral tracking system.
  • Possess familiarity with ICD-9 and CPT coding, along with basic computer proficiency.
  • Coordinate the date, time, and location of procedures and appointments with patients, facilities, and providers.
  • Effectively communicate appointment details and any special instructions regarding scheduled procedures to patients.
  • Report any challenges encountered in obtaining referrals, pre-certifications, or appointments as directed by providers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as needed.
  • Collaborate with patients, physicians, and other members of the care team to enhance overall patient care.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

No specific educational requirements; a combination of formal education and/or relevant work experience demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable. Preference may be given to candidates with a high school diploma or GED.

Minimum Experience:

Previous experience in referrals and pre-certifications is preferred. A solid understanding of medical terminology is essential. A minimum of one year of medical experience, particularly in referrals and pre-certifications, is advantageous.
