Job Summary:

Denver Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a school. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring an effective and responsive staff, maintaining building and grounds in safe condition, and assuring effectiveness of customer service and organization structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a large size elementary school, K-8 site, or small middle school type building.
  • Coordinate and organize activities related to cleaning, grounds care, and minor maintenance of one assigned facility.
  • Inspect assigned facility for proper utilization of staff's time and district materials and equipment.
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping and preventive maintenance activities to ensure compliance with sanitary and hygiene standards.
  • Manage budget for assigned facility and ensure effective fiscal management and oversight of operations, supply, and overtime budget accounts.
  • Understand and enforce labor agreements and departmental procedures and rules as well as understand labor laws and policies.
  • Responsible for issuance of disciplinary actions as needed for assigned personnel at one facility.
  • Assist facility administration in coordination of security procedures such as fire and lock-down drills/procedures.
  • Responsible for safety instruction and supervision of assigned personnel.
  • Assist in managing a workforce career development and effective training program to include promotion, progression, and hiring plans and activities.
  • Provides regular activity and status reports to management and staff on building conditions and inspection results.
  • Recommends purchase of materials and equipment and may requisition a wide variety of chemicals, tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, control, and distribution of Quality Assurance and Quality Control practices, standards, methodologies, and metrics associated with assignments.
  • Ensures suppliers and vendors meet established quality requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ year of demonstrated experience performing in a customer service-oriented environment, in compliance with established human resource and departmental policies
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community
