Job Overview

The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for delivering Help Desk assistance to users and ensuring the operational efficiency of Windows XP and Windows 7 desktop environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide initial support for custom applications utilized within the organization.
  • Design and implement database management solutions for user data maintenance.
  • Assess and validate new software integrations and updates to existing applications.
  • Offer expert guidance to the scientific and engineering teams regarding networking, security, and system services.
  • Diagnose user issues to identify whether they stem from hardware, software, procedures, or communication, and direct them to the appropriate support channels.
  • Conduct daily monitoring of systems to identify and rectify issues related to disk space, hardware, and software performance.
  • Utilize Help Desk software to log usage and problem history.
  • Install and configure devices on the network, including activating ports and updating relevant databases.

Additional Support Responsibilities:

  • Assist with NMCI-related inquiries, including customer support on contract options and general policy guidance.
  • Perform data entry into both Navy standard and unique local systems.
  • Collect metrics for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain accurate user information to ensure NMCI orders reflect current data.
  • Monitor and document problem reporting and resolution processes.
  • Coordinate the delivery of NMCI services.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum IAT Level II Certification (Microsoft desktop and CompTia Security+ certifications).
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a Security Clearance.
