ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Systems Engineer, you will engage with Flexware's pharmaceutical clientele, tasked with devising innovative solutions that empower our customers to concentrate on their core competencies. We seek a candidate with experience in Rockwell products and the ability to learn custom applications developed by Flexware. A solid understanding of Rockwell FactoryTalk View and SQL databases is essential for supporting our clients across various projects.

Your role will involve working in a regulated pharmaceutical setting, focusing on projects that may encompass:
  • Programming and installing PLCs, including ControlLogix and Siemens processors.
  • Developing and implementing HMI / SCADA / OEE solutions, utilizing platforms such as Rockwell, Wonderware, TrakSYS, and Ignition.
  • Configuring and installing VFDs, including PowerFlex, Schneider, and ABB.
  • Engaging with networking components like Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, or DeviceNet.
  • Utilizing data historians such as OSI PI or Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian.
  • Creating and configuring interfaces with third-party software tools, including OPC servers.
  • Designing and specifying automation and control systems, including programming, simulation, testing, and start-up assistance.
  • Assisting in the development of functional descriptions for automation solutions, covering control schemes, alarms, HMI, reports, and more.
  • Calibrating, troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and enhancing sensing, measurement, and actuation devices.
  • Defining data structure layouts and data flow models.
  • Providing comprehensive documentation to clients regarding system designs and programming.
  • Performing additional duties or engaging with other technologies as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates typically possess a Technical Bachelor's degree in fields such as Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Technology, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline. Other preferred qualifications include:
  • Experience in Controls / Automation Engineering.
  • Prior experience in a pharmaceutical environment is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency with SQL databases.
  • Experience in designing and programming HMI screens using Rockwell FactoryTalk View, Ignition, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with SCADA / OEE solutions such as Ignition, Wonderware, Rockwell, and TrakSYS.
  • Experience with OPC servers and tag data.
  • Knowledge of networking components.
  • Experience with operational data historians like OSI PI or Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian.
  • Proficiency in programming PLCs using RSLogix500, RSLogix5000/Studio5000, Siemens Step7, or TIA Portal, utilizing Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Blocks, or Sequential Function Charts (SFCs).
  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Integration of hardware such as barcode scanners, scales, and printers.
