Position Summary
The Caseworker plays a vital role in supporting children in care and their families, fostering growth across various aspects of a child's life. This role involves identifying individual strengths and weaknesses, developing actionable plans, and monitoring progress to ensure optimal care. The Caseworker is responsible for assessing the suitability of admissions and actively participating in strategies that guarantee the highest quality of care for each child and their family.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant social science discipline
- A minimum of three years of experience or a Master's degree in a related field
- In-depth knowledge of TDPRS and WTBR standards
- Familiarity with TDFPS Child Care Facilities Licensing Standards
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
- Proficient in computer applications
- Able to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues
- Understanding of child abuse and neglect dynamics, trauma, and the effects of out-of-home placements
- Advanced assessment, case management, human behavior dynamics, casework principles, and crisis intervention skills
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in WTBR activities, programs, and special events as required
- Engage in marketing and referral development initiatives
- Conduct intake assessments as necessary
- Act as a professional representative of WTBR in community relations and networking
- Complete a minimum of 20 hours of annual training, including topics such as:
- Psychotropic Medication
- Trauma-Informed Care
- Child Abuse Awareness & Reporting
- SATORI Aggression Management System
- Transportation Safety
- CPR/First Aid/AED
- Regularly monitor cottages to ensure compliance with TDPRS standards
- Advocate for residents to ensure their best interests are prioritized
- Serve as the primary contact for parents regarding progress, concerns, incidents, and visitation arrangements
- Coordinate meetings with Cottage Parents and residents' guardians for Plan of Service development and reviews
- Develop and implement Plans of Service in line with WTBR and TDFPS requirements, ensuring completion
- Create and execute individualized case management plans for each child
- Facilitate therapy services with external providers, sharing relevant information and updates with the case management team
- Maintain accurate documentation of significant events for each child, including progress notes, serious incidents, and therapy reports that meet TDPRS standards
- Provide written summaries and requests to medical professionals regarding psychotropic medication needs
- Regularly monitor academic performance and provide necessary interventions at both the Ranch and public schools
- Meet weekly with each child on the caseload
- Compile written reports on incidents or abuse situations as mandated by law and TDFPS standards
- Conduct routine communication with parents to discuss their child's progress and any areas of concern
- Participate in weekly cottage meetings, contributing to the case management of assigned residents
- Offer supportive services to Cottage Parents, acting as a consultant on behavior, service planning, and community resources
Work Environment
This position is classified as Exempt and entails a standard 40-hour workweek, typically from Monday to Friday. However, due to the demands of child care, flexibility in hours and days may be necessary. Occasional travel may be required, including overnight stays. The role also includes 24-hour on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis with other team members.
