Child Life Specialist PRN

As a Child Life Specialist PRN at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic activities and psychosocial care to pediatric and adolescent patients and their families. Your expertise will help them cope with the stress and anxiety of healthcare experiences, ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients' developmental levels, interests, and capabilities to create personalized play interaction and behavioral strategies.
- Develop and implement individualized programs to promote understanding, prepare patients for healthcare experiences, and foster growth and development.
- Provide procedural, emotional, and bereavement support to patients and families, and assess the need for outpatient psychosocial care.
- Serve as a clinical resource to pediatric staff, parents, volunteers, students, and other hospital staff, providing interdisciplinary in-service education on child development, child life, and the impact of illness and healthcare on patients and families.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, or a related field.
- Master's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, or a related field preferred.
- Completion of a Child Life internship from an accredited Child Life program.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Certified Child Life Specialist preferred.
- Must obtain Certification by the Child Life Council within 18 months of hire date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 120 days of hire.
