Position Overview:

As a key player in the campus community, the Lead Parking Operations Specialist will primarily engage with individuals outdoors, guiding them through a multifaceted parking system that encompasses approximately 20,000 parking spaces, 64 surface lots, and five parking structures. The role involves ensuring the consistent enforcement of parking regulations while maintaining an up-to-date understanding of permit classifications, parking rights, enforcement methodologies, and campus geography. Responsibilities also include managing the initial review of citation appeals, collecting funds from permit dispensers, supporting event parking operations, and promoting safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Additional duties may involve assisting with vehicle jump-starts and lockouts, as well as directing both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Department Overview:
The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) is dedicated to providing comprehensive services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff, with a mission to enhance UC Irvine's promising future. UCI Transportation and Distribution Services is responsible for all transportation planning, parking, and mail services at the university, with a strong commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles on and around campus. This environmental focus is integral to every program and service offered to the UCI community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate effective conflict resolution skills, maintaining composure in challenging situations. Required
  • Adapt to rapid changes in operational practices and work environments. Required
  • Work a rotating schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Required
  • Navigate safely around moving vehicles in various parking areas. Required
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships within a diverse organization. Required
  • Work independently while following through on assignments with minimal supervision. Required
  • Engage effectively with a diverse population in a high-volume, customer-oriented environment. Required
  • Possess basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications. Required
  • Interpret and clarify complex policies and regulations for various stakeholders. Required
  • Utilize basic mathematical skills for managing financial transactions related to permits and citations. Required
  • Work outdoors year-round and in varying weather conditions. Required
  • Prior experience in the parking and transportation sector, with knowledge of relevant regulations. Preferred
  • Familiarity with the UCI campus and its parking facilities. Preferred
  • Understanding of UC/UCI policies and procedures. Preferred
  • Knowledge of parking management systems such as EPICS, Antpark, and Citation Management. Preferred

Compensation and Benefits:
In addition to the competitive hourly wage range of $22.30 - $23.66, UCI offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance the employment experience. Benefits may include medical insurance, paid sick and vacation time, retirement savings plans, and various discounts and perks.
