We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative II to join our team at Prospect Medical Holdings. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and orderly admission of patients, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information.
Key Responsibilities:- Registers patients according to department procedures, ensuring accurate and thorough completion of admission forms.
- Verifies patient information using Master Patient Index function before entering data into Optimum.
- Prepares patient financial folders and distributes copies to relevant departments.
- Ensures each account is billable and pre-certification requirements are met, as necessary.
- Contacts physician offices to obtain required pre-admission information and ensures patients have necessary authorization for scheduled procedures.
- Explains hospital policies regarding payment of services, collects payments, and issues receipts.
- Requests identification cards and insurance cards during the admission process, obtaining copies of all cards (front and back).
- Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Ensures each patient receives an identification bracelet upon admission.
- Operates PBX and answers incoming calls, transferring to the appropriate department or patient room in a professional manner.
- Performs paging via overhead and other hospital systems, announcing and reporting hospital emergency codes as needed.
- Ensures physicians are authorized to admit patients and refers delinquent physicians to the hospital administrator or designee.
- Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, employees, and visitors, providing a safe environment for all.
- Two years of experience in an admitting office and/or PBX operator role.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong time management skills and ability to multitask.
- Computer literacy and proficiency.
- Ability to demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
