Patient Access Representative II

The Patient Access Representative II plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and orderly admission of all inpatients and outpatients at Southern California Hospital at Hollywood. This position requires strong communication skills to collect accurate patient information and ensure patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Registration and Admission: Registers all patients according to department procedures, completes necessary admission forms accurately, and verifies medical record status using the Master Patient Index function.
- Account Management: Ensures each account is billable, pre-certification requirements are met, and patients have required authorization for scheduled procedures. Explains hospital policies regarding payment of services, collects payments, and issues receipts.
- Communication and Customer Service: Operates the PBX, answers incoming calls, and transfers to the appropriate department or patient room in a professional manner. Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and others, maintaining confidentiality of patients, families, employees, and visitors.
- Physician Authorization: Ensures physicians are authorized to admit patients and refers delinquent physicians to the hospital administrator or designee.
- Education and Experience: Two years of admitting office and/or PBX operator experience, high school diploma or GED, and basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, strong time management skills, ability to multitask, and computer literacy and proficiency.
