About the Role

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH) is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer to join our team in Novi, MI. As a key member of our transportation planning and design team, you will be responsible for leading plan production efforts for transportation projects using MicroStation/Geopak and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead plan production efforts for transportation projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and meeting project deadlines.
  • Interact with clients, including MDOT, local agencies, consulting companies, and contractors, to understand project requirements and provide expert advice.
  • Assist in developing project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Develop technical proposals, demonstrating expertise in transportation engineering and design.
  • Demonstrate theoretical and practical civil engineering knowledge, as well as proficiency in specialized software.
  • Work closely with other technical staff to provide transportation design and consulting engineering services, primarily for MDOT and local municipalities.
  • Prepare quantities and construction cost estimates for bidding, ensuring accurate and reliable data.
Requirements
  • PE license required.
  • 5-9+ years of experience in related roadway engineering positions, working on MDOT or Local Agency projects.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation/Geopak software is required.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D software and other design modeling software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HEC-RAS, HY8, and StormCAD is a plus.
  • Experience with storm sewer drainage design, pavement markings, signing plans, and maintenance of traffic plans is a plus.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills are a must.
