Job Summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH) is in search of a dedicated Senior Transportation Engineer specializing in roadway design. This role demands a proactive individual with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a project team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the production of design plans for road and freeway projects utilizing MicroStation/Geopak and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Engage with both internal teams and external stakeholders, including state departments, local agencies, and contractors.
  • Contribute to the development of project budgets, timelines, and technical proposals.
  • Exhibit proficiency in engineering principles and specialized software applications.
  • Collaborate closely with technical staff and industry peers to deliver transportation design and consulting services, primarily for state and local municipalities.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates for construction bidding purposes.
Physical Requirements

This position may involve occasional light lifting, as well as periods of sitting and walking. Fieldwork is required, necessitating the ability to navigate project sites and utilize a computer. Travel to project or client locations is expected, along with the capability to use communication and documentation tools. Visual acuity is necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.

Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in roadway engineering roles, particularly with state and local agency projects.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation/Geopak software is essential.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and other design modeling software is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of HEC-RAS, HY8, and StormCAD is beneficial.
  • Experience in storm sewer drainage design, pavement markings, signing plans, and traffic maintenance plans is preferred.
  • Strong computer and communication skills are required.
