Chief Executive Officer Job Overview

The Chief Executive Officer serves as the principal management leader of the Indiana County Commissioners (ICC). This role is pivotal in directing the administration, programs, conventions, and strategic initiatives of the organization. Key responsibilities encompass fundraising, marketing, vendor relations, board support, and community engagement. The CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Core Responsibilities

1. Board Governance:

Collaborates with the board to advance the organization's mission and strategic objectives.

Leads ICC in a manner that aligns with the mission as defined by the board.

Ensures effective communication with the Board, providing timely and accurate information necessary for informed decision-making.

2. Financial Performance and Sustainability:

Develops and manages resources to ensure the financial health of ICC.

Responsible for fundraising and generating additional revenue streams to support ICC's mission, including vendor engagement.

Maintains fiscal integrity by presenting a proposed annual budget and monthly financial reports to the Board that accurately reflect the organization's financial status.

Ensures fiscal management aligns with the approved budget, optimizing resource utilization, and maintaining a positive financial position.

3. Organizational Mission and Strategy:

Works alongside the board and staff to ensure the mission is achieved through programs, strategic planning, convention organization, vendor relations, and community outreach.

Implements ICC's programs that align with the organization's mission.

Leads strategic planning efforts to ensure ICC's mission is effectively pursued in the future.

Enhances ICC's priorities and advocacy by collaborating with lobbyists to promote legislative priorities at the Indiana General Assembly.

Coordinates the development of legislative priorities with the ICC Legislative Committee and presents these to the board.

Oversees advocacy efforts at the Indiana General Assembly in partnership with lobbyists.

4. Organizational Operations:

Implements appropriate resources to ensure effective organizational operations.

Responsible for recruiting and retaining qualified staff.

Manages the effective administration of ICC operations, including planning and executing conventions.

Signs all contracts, agreements, and other documents on behalf of the organization, as directed by the board.

Actual Job Responsibilities

Reports to and collaborates closely with the board to engage them in policy decisions, fundraising, and enhancing the organization's visibility.

Supervises and partners with staff on administrative functions.

Leads strategic planning and execution.

Oversees the planning and management of the annual budget.

Acts as ICC's primary spokesperson to constituents, media, and the public.

Establishes and nurtures relationships with various organizations to strategically enhance ICC's mission.

Builds and maintains relationships with legislators and collaborates with lobbyists to drive ICC policy at the Indiana General Assembly.

Engages in fundraising and vendor management.

Oversees marketing and communication strategies.

Facilitates board and committee meetings.

Establishes employment and administrative policies for daily operations of ICC.

Reviews and approves service contracts as directed by the board.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 per year
