Organization Overview: HomeWord is dedicated to supporting orphaned young adults in their transition to independent living. Our team provides essential mentorship and practical assistance, including medical advocacy, housing support, tutoring, legal guidance, parenting education, and spiritual care.

Position Summary: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the principal management leader of HomeWord. This role encompasses the oversight of administration, program development, and strategic planning for the organization. Key responsibilities include fundraising, marketing initiatives, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Board Governance: Ensure effective communication with the Board, providing timely information for informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Board to advance the organizational mission.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with the Board Executive Committee and quarterly sessions with the full Board.

Financial Oversight and Fundraising:

  • Maintain the fiscal integrity of the organization, including presenting an annual budget and monthly financial reports to the Board.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with major donors.
  • Ensure operations align with approved budget guidelines and optimize resource utilization.
  • Lead fundraising efforts and develop additional resources to support HomeWord's mission, including overseeing annual fundraising strategies.
  • Manage operational tasks related to financial audits, donations, banking, and collaboration with the bookkeeper.

Mission and Strategic Development:

  • Oversee and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Enhance HomeWord's public image through active community involvement and partnerships with other organizations.
  • Engage in strategic planning to ensure the organization can fulfill its mission in the future.

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Supervise and collaborate with staff, including direct oversight of key managerial roles.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing it to stakeholders, the media, and the public.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of senior leadership experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Expertise in fundraising strategies and donor relations.
  • Demonstrated high-integrity leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills, including planning, delegation, and program development.
  • Ability to motivate and collaborate with board members and volunteers.
  • Proven capacity to lead and work effectively with staff.
  • Commitment to HomeWord's core values and mission.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in child welfare or orphan care.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
