Position Summary

ValidaTek is in search of a skilled Mainframe Services Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide support for a dynamic program with our DISA customer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee Mainframe service management for a highly virtualized and secure infrastructure dedicated to business applications, ensuring optimal availability, reliability, disaster recovery (DR), and performance and capacity enhancement.
  • Deliver support across a wide range of operating systems for Sensitive but Unclassified (SBU) level applications hosted on the mainframe.
  • Offer technical expertise in the design, deployment, and maintenance of the mainframe architecture and its associated applications.
  • Provide programming assistance to JSP and their clients, collaborating closely with Government Mainframe personnel.
  • Support the JSP mainframe environments currently operational on Unclassified networks at both the primary and DR locations.
  • Facilitate Mainframe access management services.
Required Qualifications
  • Possession of an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, or Management Information Systems, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in mainframe services.
  • Information Assurance (IA) Certification: DoDI 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
  • Computing Environment (CE) Certification: Recent and relevant technical certification.
  • Proven experience with various z/VM and z/OS hardware and software as outlined in this PWS.
  • Experience in the creation and maintenance of system engineering and technical architecture documentation.
  • Proficiency in generating and maintaining requirements, testing, and evaluating potential future technical architectures, as well as analyzing and resolving complex system issues, leading or participating in architecture reviews, and providing technical guidance based on expertise.
  • Strong understanding of large, intricate IT mainframe systems.
  • Experience and technical proficiency in z/OS environments utilizing Job Entry Subsystem 2 (JES2), System Display and Search Facility (SDSF), Time Sharing Option (TSO), TSO/Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF), Access Control Facility (ACF2), Customer Information Control System (CICS), and DB2 in a multi-CPU setting.
  • Systems programming experience in IBM z/VM.
  • System administration experience in z/Linux operating systems such as RedHat and SuSe within the IBM z/VM hypervisor.
  • Familiarity with current IBM mainframe hardware platforms, including z9, z10, z196, and zBC12.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DISA STIG processes.
  • Expertise in count-key DASD storage systems, particularly EMC VMAX systems, including Business Continuance Volume (BCV), Timefinder, and Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF) functionalities.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with robotic tape libraries such as SL-8500, SL-3000, StorageTek (STK)/Sun/Oracle Virtual Storage Manager (VSM), and T10k tape drives.
  • Thorough understanding of TSO/ISPF, System Modification Program/Extended (SMP/E), and IBM-related utility programs (e.g., IDCAMS, IEBCOPY, Fast Dump Restore (FDR), Data Facility Data Set Services (DFDSS), z/OS file structures, Integrated Catalog Facility (ICF) Catalogs, Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM), and zFS file systems).
  • Experience with the configuration and management of IBM's Communication Server IP and its subcomponents (e.g., TN3270, FTP, SYSLOGD, Policy Agent, InfoPrint Server, SMTP, SNMP, OMPROUTE, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience with z/OS network monitoring software such as NETVIEW, Williams Data Systems IMPLEX, Exigence, and FTP Alert.
  • Experience with the configuration and management of communications server VTAM and its subcomponent features (Enterprise Extender and Advanced Peer to Peer Network (APPN)).
  • Expert knowledge of mainframe open systems adapters in z/OS and z/VM environments.
Compensation

Posted Min Pay Rate: USD $95,577.60/Yr.

Posted Max Pay Rate: USD $159,296.00/Yr.

Salary Disclosure

Actual salary will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications. The upper end of the salary range may be reserved for individuals who have demonstrated tenure with the company, seniority, and proven excellent performance, including considerations such as education, certifications, and extensive or unique experience beyond the minimum requirements.
