Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Medical Center Registration Coordinator to join our team at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

The estimated salary for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role:

This role involves coordinating patient registration and ensuring seamless handoffs to clinical departments. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of registration or comparable work experience and a high school diploma or GED.

  • Consistently support and communicate the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.
  • Promote a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention of medical errors.
  • Achieve targeted registration turn-around-times and meet/exceed performance standards for customer service and upfront collection goals.
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Greeting patients immediately upon arrival and utilizing the appropriate Registration Tracker to date/time stamp patient arrival time, registration begin and end times, delay reasons, and other pertinent registration throughput data elements.
  • Researching scheduled appointment logs and/or securing copies of physicians' orders to ensure registration to the correct patient type and status with appropriate routing.
  • Notifying clinical departments if patients arrive too early or late for appointments and coordinating registrations convenient to physicians and clinical care areas.
  • Providing bedside and Medical Screen Out (MSO) registration in the Emergency Department while adhering to EMTALA rules and regulations.
Requirements:

  • Technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to the area to effectively communicate with physicians, health team members, patients, and families.
  • Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision to independently carry out duties.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
