OSPTA Home Health & Hospice is in search of full-time Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) committed to providing outstanding care to hospice patients in the Uniontown region and nearby areas.

The hospice aides play a crucial role in delivering personal care to patients, which encompasses bathing, dressing, grooming, hair and nail care, skin care, changing linens, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the patient.

Sign-on Bonus: Eligible for a bonus of up to $2,000. Previous experience in hospice care is preferred but not a requirement.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Preferred availability for early morning shifts to provide patient care.

Job Summary: The primary function is to provide personal care services to terminally ill hospice patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This includes offering support and understanding to families during times of bereavement and collaborating with the hospice team to deliver care according to the Individualized Care Plan (IDG).

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program and hold a valid certification in the state of practice.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be in good health and possess a high energy level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional patient care and customer service.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience as a nursing assistant is preferred, with active patient contact within the last three years.

Physical Requirements: This position requires significant physical effort, including kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, walking, and assisting in lifting or transferring patients weighing up to 100 pounds. Candidates must have the necessary sensory abilities or adaptive devices to perform essential duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide essential personal care assistance under the direction of the RN, including bathing, oral care, and skin care.
  • Assist with bed transfers and ambulation as outlined in the care plan.
  • Conduct range of motion exercises as instructed by qualified personnel.
  • Perform incidental household tasks that contribute to the patient's well-being.
  • Prepare meals, including special dietary needs.
  • Monitor and report vital signs as assigned by the RN.
  • Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and their families.
  • Report any changes in the patient's condition to the hospice office and notify the RN.
  • Attend a minimum of twelve (12) hours of in-service education programs annually.
  • Maintain current certification as required by the state.

Certifications and Clearances:

  • CPR certification for healthcare providers.
  • Pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Physical examination.
  • PPD screening.
  • Valid driver's license and automotive insurance.
