A distinguished legal practice focusing on family law, particularly for affluent clients, is in search of a skilled and meticulous Paralegal to enhance their reputable family law division. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in managing intricate family law matters involving high-net-worth individuals, encompassing issues such as divorce, child custody, asset distribution, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and spousal support. This position demands a profound knowledge of family law, outstanding organizational capabilities, and the capacity to operate with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management:
    • Support attorneys in overseeing a substantial caseload of complex family law matters, ensuring meticulous attention to detail from initiation to conclusion.
    • Systematically organize and maintain case files, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to deadlines.
    • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, and discovery requests.
  • Client Interaction:
    • Act as a primary liaison for high-net-worth clients, ensuring clear communication and providing regular updates on case developments.
    • Handle sensitive client information with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Coordinate client meetings, interviews, and depositions.
    • Engage with forensic accountants as necessary.
  • Legal Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive legal research on complex family law topics, including asset tracing, valuation, and division.
    • Evaluate financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documents to aid in the formulation of legal arguments and strategies.
    • Prepare financial affidavits.
    • Assist in drafting settlement agreements and other legal documentation.
  • Court and Trial Preparation:
    • Prepare and organize exhibits, evidence, and other documentation for court submissions and trial presentations.
    • Collaborate with expert witnesses, including financial analysts, appraisers, and accountants.
    • Support attorneys during court proceedings by taking notes, managing documents, and providing real-time assistance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Paralegal certification from an ABA-accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: At least 4+ years of experience as a paralegal in family law, particularly with a focus on high-net-worth cases.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of family law procedures, statutes, and case law.
    • Strong financial insight and experience with complex financial matters, including asset division, business valuation, and tax implications.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
    • Capability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
    • Proficiency in legal research tools and software, including Westlaw, LexisNexis, and family law case management systems.
