A reputable legal practice is currently seeking a dedicated full-time paralegal specializing in medical malpractice cases. This position requires on-site work and is ideal for candidates with a strong background in personal injury law.
Qualifications:
- Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP) certification is mandatory.
- Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal certification program, with a preference for candidates holding a bachelor's degree.
- Certification from recognized paralegal associations such as NFPA or NALA is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational abilities and effective time management skills.
- Proficiency in various software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe, and Dropbox.
- Familiarity with Filevine case management software is preferred, but training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial screenings and intake for potential medical malpractice cases.
- Order, review, and organize medical records; prepare timelines and chronologies; assess case merit and identify issues related to standard of care, causation, and damages.
- Research and communicate with expert witnesses.
- Perform legal and medical research as needed.
- Draft correspondence and various legal documents.
- Prepare pre-litigation documents, including Notices of Intent and Expert Affidavits.
- Assist in drafting litigation documents such as pleadings, discovery requests, and subpoenas under attorney supervision.
- Support attorneys in preparation for depositions, mediations, and trials.
