Job Title: NDE Operations Supervisor

Join SpaceX, a pioneering company in space exploration, as we seek a highly skilled NDE Operations Supervisor to lead our Precision Tubing Inspection team. As a key member of our NDE department, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our critical plumbing components for the Merlin engines and Falcon boosters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and prioritize work-flow management to ensure efficient inspection processes
  • Act as the interface between the team and relevant production partners to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration
  • Collaborate with engineering and Level III teams to support inspection requirements and ensure compliance with NASA 5009 standards
  • Manage inspector career development planning and certification training to meet inspection needs in the work center
  • Assist in personnel hiring and sourcing recommendations to build a high-performing team
  • Manage maintenance planning and scheduling for equipment and facilities to minimize downtime and optimize productivity
  • Prioritize and increase inspection quality by deploying lean strategies, 5S, Kaizen, and data-driven metric development
  • Ensure team maintains proficiency by using inspection methods, automated systems, and tooling for the work center
  • Assist in the introduction of technological change to stay ahead of the curve in aerospace inspection
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of prior leadership experience within a manufacturing environment, either leading teams, projects, or people
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills while managing multiple priorities
  • 2+ years of NDE experience with a Level II or Level III certification in line with ASNT TC-1A or NAS 410 or DOD guidance
  • 5+ years of aerospace experience
  • Knowledge of NASA 5009 standards
  • Knowledge of AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM
  • Knowledge and understanding of NAS 410 standards
  • Problem-solving tools and techniques, such as 5 whys, failure mode and effects analysis, root cause analysis
  • Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, continuous improvement, and/or DMAIC
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Suite
  • Experience in working with fracture critical products and parts
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, assemblies, technique-specific systems
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, and walk
  • Willing to work extended hours to meet critical deadlines if needed
  • Ability to work the weekend shift: 4am-4pm or 4pm-4am (Thursday-Sunday or Friday-Monday or Saturday-Tuesday)
Compensation and Benefits:

Base salary: $110,000.00-$145,000.00 per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.

You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year.

Exempt employees are eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year.
