Job Summary

The Lead Direct Support Professional Medical Specialist plays a vital role in assisting clients with daily living activities, personal care, and program implementation. This position is responsible for ensuring the daily well-being and safety of clients, while providing adequate supervision. The successful candidate will also assist with household maintenance and housekeeping, and be responsible for various tasks to support the home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with daily cares, medical needs, and supports, including ADLs and mental health supports.
  • Develop and implement daily routines that promote choice and independence for clients.
  • Plan and implement recreation, leisure, and community activities that cater to clients' interests and needs.
  • Drive clients to appointments and community activities, ensuring safe transportation and timely arrival.
  • Establish and maintain community relationships and friendships for clients, promoting socialization and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with the support team to develop and implement goals, ensuring person-centered services and effective support.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and diets as prescribed, maintaining accurate records and confidentiality.
  • Prepare meals and complete weekly food ordering, ensuring a healthy and nutritious diet for clients.
  • Assist with daily housekeeping and household maintenance, ensuring a clean and safe living environment.
  • Conduct house quality improvement assessments and address identified issues, promoting a safe and healthy living environment.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of clients, including remaining on shift until a replacement employee arrives.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external parties, using clear and respectful language.
  • Complete mandatory training and adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
Requirements
  • Must pass a Department of Human Services background check and maintain qualified status.
  • Must not be excluded from working in government health programs by the Office of Inspector General.
  • Must be able to successfully complete company's basic job skills assessments.
  • Must have a valid current driver's license and vehicle insurance as required by state law.
  • Successful completion of Medication Administration class, regularly passing medications using correct procedure without error.
