JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

Positions assigned to this classification are responsible for conducting intricate technical evaluations of residential, commercial, industrial, or other construction documents to ensure adherence to Town building or zoning regulations.


DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a fully qualified and experienced professional classification within the construction management job family.

Incumbents execute the full range of duties that demonstrate knowledge of expected functional requirements or performance specifications within the assigned discipline.

Work involves the application of sound principles and best practices associated with planning and problem-solving. Operates independently and performs diverse assignments requiring extensive knowledge in a particular field. Refers complex issues to management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification.

Reviews building construction plans and calculations for code compliance.
Acts as a liaison with the business community regarding code compliance.
Consults with leadership on challenging code situations.
Conducts code and other analyses.
Responds to internal and external inquiries.
Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (at job entry)

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Driver's License;
Maintain all certifications/licenses required at job entry.

KNOWLEDGE
Dispute resolution techniques;
Customer service principles;
Plans examining principles, practices, and techniques;
Applicable Federal, state, and local laws, codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations;
Utilizing computers and related software applications;
Standard office equipment including the computer and programs relevant to the performance of applicable duties and responsibilities.

SKILLS
Examining plans for conformance to applicable laws, codes, regulations, and related guidelines;
Providing customer service;
Resolving disputes;
Interpreting applicable Federal, state, and local laws, codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations;
Utilizing computers and related software applications;

Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, and other interested parties sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
