Role Overview:

The Intensive Family Support Specialist is responsible for working closely with children and families who require extensive service delivery, frequent contact, and coordinated treatment efforts. This role involves providing direct crisis intervention, support, transportation, and educational resources to families and children, either independently or alongside other in-home client services. The specialist will manage a caseload of 15 families to ensure high-intensity support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct services in-home, in-office, in-school, and within the community. These services encompass crisis intervention, transportation, maintaining client stability, additional supervision, parent training in childcare and behavior management, and support to keep children in their homes.
  • Organize, schedule, and follow up on family, youth, and adult team meetings (ACT or CFT). Document these meetings in writing and distribute copies to all team members. Engage and invite natural supports as identified by families, youth, and adults. Refer clients to partner organizations and community services as needed.
  • Commit to at least 40 hours of work weekly, aiming for 30 hours of direct client interaction, including necessary case management. Ensure compliance with clinical documentation standards established monthly and annually. Complete all assigned tasks within specified timelines. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to accommodate the needs of families, which may include evening or weekend hours. Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • In collaboration with each child and family, provide services that align with the 12 Arizona Principles: (1) Family, youth, and adult collaboration; (2) Focus on achieving functional outcomes; (3) Coordination with multiple systems; (4) Access to a comprehensive range of behavioral health services; (5) Implementation of best practices; (6) Appropriate service settings; (7) Timeliness; (8) Tailored services; (9) Stability in placements; (10) Respect for cultural heritage; (11) Promotion of independence; (12) Connection to natural supports.
  • Ensure continuity of care in delivering comprehensive services to families, youth, and adults, assisting team members, including the Clinical Coordinator and/or Director, in facilitating communication with other departments or external stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant state agencies, community mental health organizations, and contracting entities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Behavioral Health-related field is preferred or meets BHT requirements.
  • Experience in behavioral health is essential.
  • Prior experience working with children is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the CFT process and the Arizona 12 Principles is required.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, problem-solving skills, and creativity in service delivery.
  • Must possess a Fingerprint clearance card or be eligible to obtain one.
  • A valid Arizona driver's license with no major infractions in the past three years is required.
  • Regular access to reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply.

  • If driving for agency purposes, a valid Arizona driver's license and appropriate liability insurance are required. A clean three-year state driving record is also necessary.
  • All employees providing direct client services must be at least 21 years old, while those in support roles must be at least 18 years old. A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required for all employees.
  • Attend meetings, training, and agency events outside of regular work hours as requested.
