Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Learning Assistant Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our childcare staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities that promote learning and development in young children.
  • Work closely with the Site Coordinator/Supervisor to develop and lead daily lesson plans that align with the YMCA's educational goals and objectives.
  • Engage with children in the classroom, promoting social, emotional, and cognitive development through play-based activities and interactions.
  • Assist with daily parent communication, including updates on child progress and attendance.
  • Prepare materials for daily activities and maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Supervise children during activities and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist with parent-teacher conferences as needed and communicate effectively with the classroom teaching team.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or CDA preferred, or proof of current enrollment in CDA or college-level degree program required.
  • Three to six months of childcare-related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
  • Ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddler, and preschool children.
