College/Department Information

The Medical College of Georgia ranks among the largest medical schools in the nation, with a class size of 260 students. The educational framework is supported by the main campus in Augusta and regional clinical campuses throughout the state, including a second four-year campus in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's collaborations with healthcare providers across Georgia offer approximately 350 sites for students to engage in diverse medical experiences, from complex care hospitals to small-town practices. MCG also provides postgraduate education to over 500 residents and fellows across 50 accredited programs. Our research and clinical focus address critical health issues affecting children and adults, including cardiovascular health, cancer, neuroscience, public health, and personalized medicine.

Job Summary

This position is designed for advanced training through active participation in scientific, technical, and administrative tasks that support research initiatives within a designated laboratory.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Engaging in project planning and developing research protocols while ensuring compliance with established scientific principles and federal regulations.
  • Analyzing experimental results using manual or computational methods, and if necessary, creating specialized software to enhance analysis. Teaching and participating in both qualitative and quantitative analysis, as well as histological and cell culture techniques.
  • Conducting literature reviews; summarizing and evaluating findings; developing applications based on personal research or reported techniques from other studies. Presenting results at scientific conferences at various levels.
  • Writing articles for publication in scientific journals and reviewing submissions from colleagues.
  • Supervising and coordinating the activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel involved in laboratory work. Advising principal investigators and other staff on research methodologies and technological aspects of research.
  • Performing additional job-related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Detail-oriented with excellent prioritization and organizational abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software/databases or willingness to learn

Shift/Salary/Benefits

**This position is fully grant funded**

Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range for the position.

Augusta University provides a variety of benefits to full-time eligible employees, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
