Job Summary

The Nanobiotechnology and Molecular Engineering Research Group is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to engage in interdisciplinary research initiatives. The selected candidate will contribute to ongoing projects, assist in proposal writing, and mentor both graduate and undergraduate students. A solid background in Molecular Biology and/or Chemistry is essential. Familiarity with various nanomaterials, their characterization, and toxicity assays is required. Experience in the biological and biomedical applications of Raman Spectroscopy (RS) and Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) is highly advantageous.

This position is designed for advanced independent research, ensuring alignment with established methodologies and adherence to project timelines. Responsibilities include research data collection and analysis, development of new research techniques, literature review, and publication of findings in scientific journals. The role involves a variety of complex procedures across chemical, biological, and clinical domains.

Responsibilities

Key duties include:
  • Engaging in project planning and developing research protocols while ensuring compliance with scientific research principles and federal guidelines.
  • Conducting experimental studies in areas such as animal behavior, cell biology, and molecular biology, including but not limited to surgeries, behavioral tests, and various microscopy techniques.
  • Reviewing scientific literature, summarizing findings, and presenting results at scientific conferences.
  • Writing articles for publication and reviewing submissions from colleagues.
  • Supervising and coordinating the activities of students and research personnel involved in laboratory work.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

A strong foundation in Molecular Biology is essential. Experience with Raman Spectroscopy (RS) and Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines. Willingness to work with research animals.

KNOWLEDGE
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and research management tools.

SKILLS
Effective oral and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and attention to detail.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (may require work outside normal hours)

Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range.
